Irrigation

1.8 million ha according to the Master Plan and 1.057.803 ha according to the GAP Action Plan are planned to be opened for irrigation in the GAP Region.

According to the GAP Action Plan, a total area of 663,919 ha in the Euphrates and Tigris Basin has been opened to irrigation by the end of 2023.

In 94.701 ha area, irrigation network construction is still in progress and 299.193 ha area is in the planning stage.

According to the GAP Action Plan, 62,8% of irrigation projects are operational. Within the scope of irrigation projects, 1.496.265 meters of main canal construction was completed by the end of 2023.
